Leadership

Students have opportunities at all year levels to develop their leadership capacity in both formal and informal roles. Opportunities to develop and exhibit leadership roles include:

House Captains

Our House Captains are elected by staff and students each year as our school leaders. They each lead a portfolio, comprised of other Grade 6 students, to manage and enhance an aspect of our school: Sustainability, Resources, Communication and Physical Engagement. A staff member mentors the students in each Portfolio Team.

Junior School Council

The Junior School Council (JSC) play a positive role in creating a school environment that is caring, safe and aware. At Malvern Valley Primary School, student leadership is a valuable opportunity for students to develop their skills in being leaders, organisers and active members of their community. Through this role, student representatives from Prep to Grade 6 are able to meet regularly to discuss student-identified matters. When students are actively involved in decision-making, they have an enhanced sense of commitment to the school and wider community.

Green Team

Welcome to the Green Team, where representatives from Prep to Grade 6 come together weekly to make a positive impact on our school environment. Committed to fostering a cleaner and greener school, our dedicated members actively engage in various initiatives that promote sustainability and responsibility.

Every week, our Green Team members gather to brainstorm innovative ways to keep our school clean and eco-friendly. From ensuring classroom compost bins are emptied to organising recycling schemes that not only reduce waste but also raise funds for special projects, every action we take contributes to a healthier planet.

In addition to our practical efforts, the Green Team plays a vital role in our school community by sharing our progress and insights at fortnightly assemblies. Through informative speeches and engaging presentations, we inspire our peers and teachers alike to join us in our mission to protect our environment.
