This week celebrates Social Inclusion Week, where we acknowledge the importance of feeling included in friendship circles, in the playground and look at our ability to invite and include others. For many students, just asking ‘Can I play too?’, incites anxiety and fear of rejection. At MVPS we promote inclusion and celebrate differences.
In helping a student overcome their anxiety of being excluded and encouraging inclusive practices, we foster strategies such as:
* Encouraging them to expand their friendship circles
* Helping them identify and value authentic friendships between children of all abilities and backgrounds
* Supporting them to find common connections and activities of interest
* Teaching them polite ways to decline or postpone playing opportunities
Our education staff are always looking for opportunities to recognise and praise students for displaying social inclusion in the playground.

It was a tired but happy busload of 3/4 students that returned to school from Camp Rumbug on Wednesday. Despite the cold weather, the students were able to complete all the activities. We feel very fortunate to have been able to reschedule this camp from our previous date in Lockdown. Thanks to Mr Harrington for organising the camp and to the 3/4 teachers, support staff and parent helpers who looked after the well-being of the students and made the camp so much fun. #camprumbug #camprumbug2021 #schoolcamp #tiredandhappy #resilience #malvernvalleyprimary ... Thank you for putting together such a wonderful experience for the kids.

3/4 Camp Day 2
Teams hit the water today for sone canoeing, raft building and a continuation of Tree climbing, Low Ropes and Team Building. The school values have abounded with students showing great confidence and resilience trying new things and working together with cooperation and respect in team building and group activities. We are so grateful to our teachers and parent helpers who are by their side encouraging and celebrating every student. #schoolcamp #outdoorfun #malvernvalleyprimary
