What is your favourite Roald Dahl book, and what do you love about it? This week we celebrate Roald Dahl’s Heavenly Birthday. What’s not to love about Roald Dahl books, they are engaging, colourful and whimsical. Kids ask us to read them again and again! They tie our tongues in knots and set us reading in a rhyming twang, yet these books convey so much more to young readers. His books model embracing differences, being kind, the value of teamwork and the importance of self-confidence, patience, and resilience. Tell us what is your favourite Roald Dahl book, and what do you love about it? ... See MoreSee Less

I can’t go past Charlie and the chocolate factory. It always gives hope that even when there’s a slight chance you may get lucky. Gotta be in it to win it!

The Witches for me Mathilda for the kids

In Prep, we spend time learning digraphs - a combination of two letters representing one sound. In teaching digraphs, teachers introduce the students to the sound of the digraph, getting them to repeat in aloud, write it down and then draw pictures of things that they think has that digraph sound in it. Discussing their drawings is a great way of discovering that some digraphs sound very similar to other letter sounds and digraphs. For many learners ‘ch’, ‘j’ and ‘tr’ sound very similar. Gaining this literacy understanding takes time and patience, but this perseverance builds confidence, vocabulary and literacy skills that will see them well in their future. Today we celebrate International Literacy Day, recognising the efforts of both our learners and our educators (teachers and parents!). ... See MoreSee Less

Happy Father’s Day to all our magical Dads and special friends in the community today.
Dads are the true magicians in our lives because they make frowns disappear and replaced with smiles, they seem to make the impossible possible, and they always seem to be able to pull something out of their hat just when we need it the most.
Dads, whether past on, loving from a distance or sharing our homes, make a difference in our lives. We always remember and treasure their encouraging and loving words, their positive actions, and the time we spend with them.
MVPS expresses our gratitude to all our dads and special menfolk within our community for supporting our school endeavours and sharing your tremendous young people with us.
